Hello friends, I know it's been a while since you've had a peek into the Dirty Kitchen. The wine has been 'doing what it does' waiting till it's the proper time to make something of it.
Well, the time has come to rack some varieties. First up is the concord grape.
The grapes this year originated from two separate crop locations, one in central Ohio and the other in Western Pennsylvania. The vintner has kept them separate so that each regions flavors are well represented. There is a total of 5 gallons of the grape.
Next is the highly sought after wild black raspberry.
This years crop yielded 2 gallons, which will result in 10 bottles come next July.

Nice Pear
Today in the Dirty Kitchen, Kevin bottled the first batch of "Nice Pear" wine. The 3 gallon brew yielded 15 bottles.
With the help of his assistant Marlee, they filled, corked and labeled the new batch.
Oh yes, here at the Dirty Kitchen everyone earns their keep :) Besides they are learning the family business, a tradition.

Another Batch Is In The Works
Kevin has started brewing (no that would be beer) fermenting? I'm not sure the correct term, but anyway there is some stinky fermenting peaches in my kitchen (the Dirty Kitchen). In a couple of days he'll rack it (that means transfer it to another container and leaving behind the yucky stuff) into a bottle to sit for about 9 months or more. I can't believe all of our first batch of Dishwater Peach is gone! Everyone liked it, so we hope batch #2 is as tasty ;)
